The Saatva Mattress is our most recommended mattress out of all the innerspring mattresses that we have reviewed. There are quite a few reasons why we think this is the best mattress for your money and we will be enumerating them below. First of all, a brief summary of the Saatva brand.
Saatva is an American mattress manufacturer based out of Westport, CT that sells purely online. Being an entirely online brand has its advantages and some disadvantages as well but we are confident to say that the positives outweigh the negatives. They also have a “Green Initiative” that aims to provide a mattress constructed with eco-friendly materials.

- The price of $999 (queen) is a steal given that the mattress has a coil-on-coil design that is usually only found in mattresses that cost over $2000
- Saatva is the best reviewed mattress retailer online
- Great spinal support
- Not vacuum sealed when delivered
- 120 days trial
- Exceptional customer support
- The 14.5″ model is huge and can be a pain to move, change sheets, clean or rotate
The Saatva mattress is available in 2 thickness profiles: 14.5″ and 11.5″. They cost the same and according to Saatva, the difference is purely aesthetic. You can also choose from a plush soft, luxury firm and firm comfort level.
It is made in the USA with foams that are Certipur-US certified.
The design of the mattress is very impressive, starting with the coil-on-coil design that can only be found in premium mattresses that are very expensive. The support layer has 416 tempered steel coils and the comfort layer has 816 individually wrapped coils. This is for the queen size.
The individually wrapped coils are there to provide comfort, allowing the mattress to contour to your body. The hour glass shaped coils provide support and prevents sagging so that the mattress can last for a long time.
The edge of the mattress uses a Dual Perimeter Edge Support System for durability and provide the users a wider sleeping area.
On top of the individually wrapped coils is the Lumbar support enhancement layer that is made from memory foam.
The topmost layer is a Euro pillow top layer and it is covered using organic cotton. If you would like to know more about the specs of the mattress, click here.
Another thing that we love about the Saatva mattress is the price. It is priced at $999 for the queen. This is an excellent price for what you will be getting considering that a luxury mattress with a coil on coil design will usually retail around $2000.
The biggest reason why the Saatva mattress is priced so low is the fact that they are an online only mattress retailer. Cutting out the middleman (mattress shops) eliminates the extra expenses such as showroom expenses, rent and other unnecessary expenses. Customers are not asked to shoulder these expenses and as a result, they can buy a luxury mattress that is very affordable.
Here are the prices for each size.
|Twin||38” x 75”||$599|
|Twin XL||38” x 80”||$699|
|Full||54” x 75”||$849|
|Queen||60” x 80”||$999|
|King||76” x 80”||$1399|

There are optional accessories and a mattress removal service that you can avail of when you purchase the Saatva mattress. You can purchase a foundation that ranges from $150 – $300, depending on the size of the mattress that you will be getting. The foundation is available in two profiles: 8.75″ or 4.5″.
You can also get a steel frame for $99. It is a frame that sits 7.5″ from the ground. It has 4 corner and 3 center support heavy duty legs.
Delivery is free and this includes free mattress removal.
- Comfort and Support
You can choose from 3 comfort levels when you purchase the Saatva mattress. If you sleep on your side, you might want to choose the plush soft. It can relieve pressure off your arms/shoulder as you sleep.
If you don’t have a set sleeping position or you sleep with someone and you have different sleeping positions, the luxury firm is the best choice. It is great for people who sleep on their side, back or stomach. It is the “Goldilocks” comfort level, not too soft and not too firm.
If your preferred sleeping position is either on your stomach or on your back, the firm option is for you.
As for support, the coil on coil design works great. The individually wrapped coils allows the mattress to contour to your body to relieve pressure and it also provides the support needed so that your body is properly aligned while you sleep. The tempered steel coils are 13 gauge, meaning they are thick and they make sure that the mattress stays supportive for a long time.
Inadequate cooling is not a problem with the Saatva mattress. The innerspring design allows for good air ventilation and the use of organic cotton helps in keeping the mattress stay cool while you sleep.
- Motion Isolation
Motion isolation, while not the best, is still very good. The individually wrapped coils do a good job in minimizing motion transfer.
- Off Gassing
Off gassing is the chemical smell that comes with newly opened vacuum sealed mattresses. The Saatva mattress does not have any chemical smell when it is delivered to you because it is not vacuum sealed. Also, the memory foam used in the mattress is a bio-based foam.
- Is it noisy?
The springs in the Saatva mattress does not produce audible noise when you sleep. Unless you have very sensitive hearing, you won’t have a problem with noise while you sleep or when moving.
Durability and Warranty
The Saatva mattress is expected to last around 10-15 years with normal usage.
Innerspring mattresses, in general, are prone to sagging. This is a problem with a lot of low quality models. However, there are a few spring mattresses that perform well with regards to durability. Saatva is one of those.
The coil-on-coil design helps in the durability department because there is not one, but two coil systems in the mattress. The 2 coil systems work with each other to provide support to the sleeper and lessen the load for both of them. This helps extend the life of the mattress.
As for warranty, the Saatva mattress has a 15 year warranty. For the first 2 years, the mattress will be replaced free of charge if there are any structural problems or defects. If there are problems after 2 years, you can choose from 2 options:
- You can have the mattress fully repaired free of charge less transportation costs or
- You can choose to avail of their “Fairness Replacement Option“, here are the details:
- For years 3-5, you can have your mattress replaced for 25% of the original price you paid
- For years 6-10, mattress replacement for 50% of the original price you paid
- For years 11-15, mattress replacement for 75% of the original price you paid

120 Days Home Trial
When we first reviewed the Saatva mattress, they were offering a 45 day home trial and we found that timeframe to be sufficient when testing a mattress. However, they actually improved on it and now, they are offering 120 days.
You can test the mattress at your home and find out if it is right for you, without pressure. If you like it, great, if you don’t, you just have to contact them and let them know. You will get a full refund. Also, the 120 day period starts when the mattress is delivered to you, not the day you order. Here is the link to the return policy.
Delivery takes around 7-15 business days. You will be contacted within 3 days after checkout to discuss the order details and the delivery process. One day before delivery, you will be contacted again to let you know the estimated time of arrival.
They are now offering a free white glove delivery that includes mattress installation and disposal of your previous mattress.
As for customer support, this is where Saatva shines through. Dealing with Saatva’s customer support will leave you feeling like a spoiled child because of how they make sure that you are properly serviced. On their website, they have a live chat that you can contact anytime you have a question. This is very helpful if you are a newbie mattress shopper and would like to be guided properly.
Communication is very important when it comes to online purchases, especially when it comes to expensive items. Saatva makes sure that there is clear communication between you and them.
Dealing with them after you have received the mattress is also a pleasant experience. Their return and warranty policy are easy to understand and customer friendly. If you have a problem with the mattress, just let them know and it will be resolved without hassle.
As you can read from this review, there are very few negatives about this mattress. The positives clearly outweigh the negatives. If you are currently shopping for a spring mattress, Saatva should definitely be at the top of your list because being able to enjoy a luxury mattress while only paying for a mid ranged one is definitely a steal.
If money is not an issue, we highly recommend this mattress. If you are on a budget, we recommend that you try to save up because no budget mattress can match Saatva’s performance.
