Mattress Construction/Specs

Graphite gel infused memory foam
Bear quick response foam
1.8lb High density support foam

The Bear mattress is designed with athletes and physically active people in mind and because of this, they used the Celliant technology in their cover in order for sleepers to regain their energy faster and reinvigorate them for the next day.

The Bear mattress has a 4 layer design using 3 types of foam. It is 10 inches thick and the overall feel of the mattress is rated medium, not too soft and not too firm. It only comes in medium firmness so if you prefer a very soft or an extra firm mattress, this might not be for you.

The core or support layer of the mattress is a 6.5 inch high density foam. It does the job of providing support very well and it should hold up well for a long time due to the high density rating of 1.8lbs.

The comfort layer is a 1 inch graphite gel infused memory foam and its main aim is to provide a comfortable and cool sleeping surface. Graphite gel memory foam is one of the unusual materials used in the Bear mattress, the other is the Celliant in the cover but more on that later. The graphite gel memory foam is said to be several times cooler than standard memory foam and we can confirm that the mattress does sleep cool and it is comfortable.

The middle layer of the mattress uses 2 variants of the Bear quick response foam. One is 1 inch thick and the other is 1.5 inches. This layer acts as a transitional layer that provides additional support and bounciness to the mattress so that moving around is not difficult.

Covering the whole mattress is a proprietary fiber with the Celliant technology. The cover is smooth and soft but the unique feature of it is the Celliant technology used. This technology transforms body heat into infrared light while you sleep. You will benefit from it by having reduced body pain, better circulation and regulated body temperature. It also helps in providing a cooler sleeping surface.

Bear mattress is made in the USA and it uses CertiPUR certified foams. Complete specs and features of the mattress can be found here.

Pricing

The Bear mattress is reasonably priced at $850 for the queen, price for other sizes below. Considering the technology and materials used in the construction of the mattress, it is priced on the low side and this makes it an easy recommendation for us.

Aside from the mattress itself, you can also purchase accessories that can improve/enhance your sleeping experience. Of course, these are not required and you don’t have to buy them if you don’t want to.

  • Bear Pillow

The Bear Pillow is made with the Loft-X foam technology. It has the contouring characteristic of memory foam as well as the bounce/responsiveness of latex so sleeping on it ensures proper spine alignment without the sinking effect that makes movement hard. The pillow has dual mesh side panels for better airflow and breathability. It is hypoallergenic and has antimicrobial protection.

  • Bear Mattress Protector

The Bear mattress protector is unique in that it uses the HeiQ Adaptive Fabric Technology which wicks heat and moisture away from your body so that you can sleep comfortably. Another feature of the protector is that it does not interfere with the benefits of the Celliant cover, in fact, it is designed to be used with the Celliant.

  • Bear Foundation

The Bear foundation uses heavy duty steel in its construction so that it can properly support both the mattress and the sleepers. It is strong and sturdy and it does not produce noise. There is no assembly needed as it comes already assembled and folded in half for easier transport. It also comes with a white, washable zipper cover for aesthetics.

  • Bear Bed Frame

The Bear bed frame is well built, sturdy and stable as it is constructed with metal. It is easy to assemble and there are no tools required so even if you are not handy, you won’t be having too much of a hard time. It is a “one size fits all” frame and it has a center beam in order to provide better support.

Performance

  • Comfort and Support

The Bear Mattress is very comfortable and it has a firmness rating of “medium” so it will cater to all sleeping positions. However, if you want a very soft or firm mattress, you may want to look elsewhere or you could still try the Bear Mattress without any risk due to their 100 night sleep trial.

It contours to the body very well and the graphite gel infused memory foam does a very good job of keeping the temperature stable for a comfortable sleep. The Celliant cover is smooth and soft and it adds to the overall comfort of the mattress, along with its other benefits.

The support layer of the Bear mattress is more than adequate and with its 1.8 lbs density, it has the potential of lasting a very long time without any issues.

  • Cooling

Cooling is an area where the Bear Mattress performs exceptionally well. The graphite gel infused memory foam in the comfort layer does a very good job in this regard and the Celliant cover adds to that. If you are concerned with your memory foam mattress retaining heat as you sleep, you won’t have a problem with the Bear mattress.

  • Motion Isolation

Transfer of motion is very minimal with the Bear mattress. Like most of our recommended memory foam mattresses, motion isolation is very good.

  • Off Gassing

The Bear mattress is delivered to you in a box, vacuum sealed. With this set up, you can expect the mattress to give off a chemical smell once it is opened due to the nature of the packaging. The smell is annoying at first but with proper ventilation, it will go away. This is actually the biggest issue that we found with the mattress and truthfully, it is not that big of a deal as long as you give it time to air out.

100 Night Sleep Trial

The Bear mattress has a 10 year limited warranty period. The full details of the policy can be found here.

One of the biggest reasons why online only mattresses are very popular is the “sleep trial” that most of them offer and for the Bear mattress, the offer stands at 100 nights. This means that you can use the mattress for 100 nights and then decide if you want to keep it or return it.

100 nights is more than enough time to determine if the mattress is the right choice for you as it gives your body time to adjust to the mattress. You can make that decision without any pressure at the comfort of your own home.

If you decide to keep it, you don’t have to do anything but if you want to return it, you just simply contact the support team at Bear mattress and they will take care of it. You will receive a full refund and you won’t have to pay any sort of fees.

Delivery

Upon completion of order, the Bear mattress mattress will ship between 1-7 days depending on where you are located. It will ship via UPS to anywhere in the United states, Canada and Puerto Rico and as stated above, shipping is free.

Summary

The comfort and transitional layers of the Bear mattress provides a cool and very comfortable sleeping surface that is very responsive. This means that you won’t sink in too much, making movement a lot easier. The support layer has a high density foam that can support the sleeper very well and the Celliant cover is definitely something that makes the mattress a very attractive option with its benefits.

The only downside that we found with the mattress is the lack of firmness options as it is only available in “medium” but this won’t be an issue for most sleepers, unless you prefer a very soft or very firm mattress.

If you are looking for a memory foam, the Bear mattress is an excellent buy and we recommend it highly. You can go to their Official website.
